Facebook to charge users to ‘promote’ posts to friends

Facebook, despite its promise that it's "free and always will be", has started testing the idea to charge users to share posts with their friends. So, suppose you have something very important you want to share and you want to make sure your friends see it, you can pay a $7 fee to ensure that your post appears at the top of your friends' newsfeeds. Sound ridiculous? What do you think?
